i've been down this road before
i know just where it goes
what will meet me at the end
only heaven knows

this journey is a different kind
no compass will i need
it's something i must do alone
in order to succeed

i knew the road ahead was bound
for catastrophe
i looked back and there was just
one other path for me

it was the way i had just come
but i could not turn back
i had to face my fears again
however dark or black

that brings me to where i am now
the road to destiny
i must keep my mind focused on
the path ahead of me

my journey's end is coming soon
but different it will be
this time i will be ready
it will not frighten me

but what it that scared me so?
i seemed to have forgot
will it be the same this time?
it could be or could not

now i've made it to the end
but there is nothing here
what a comic twist of fate
the thing i feared was fear

my quest at last was now complete
but where to go from here?
i looked back and saw the road
begin to disappear

below me was the darkness that
i thought i'd left behind
it threatened to consume me if
some strength i could not find

the ground below me crumbled but
i did not scream in fright
the darkness could not touch me when
i reached up to the light

i felt my body rising up
and briefly wondered why
i slowly opened up my eyes
and realized i could fly

i soared above the darkness of
the fear i left behind
onward i flew to bravely face
any challenge i'd find
